It's certainly not the color I was expecting, but Nintendo announced today that starting June 6 a brand new sea green colored Nintendo 2DS will be available on store shelves. The soft shaded 2DS will feature a white front with the sea green used on the backing and buttons.
Currently available in North America is the black-fronted 2DS with the option for either a red backing or a blue backing. A pink-backed and white-fronted 2DS is available at certain retailers, however, but good luck finding one. They're growing rarer by the day. Europe and Australia do have a white-fronted, red-backed 2DS, which North America never acquired. I wonder what Nintendo's trying to say with that decision.
Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that there isn't really a lot of diversity in Nintendo 2DS colors in North America. Sea green will be a great addition for those not looking for the harder colors that are available in-stores. It's soft, breezy, and androgynous. It's just not particularly attractive in my mind. I'm sure it'll be great for kids or families though.
The sea green Nintendo 2DS goes on sale June 6 for the retail price of $129.99. It should, according to Nintendo, be widely available in North America.
