Fire Emblem's not going to settle for bringing only Marth back for Super Smash Bros. Wii U and Super Smash Bros. 3DS. Bandai Namco revealed today another big roster addition that shouldn't surprise too many franchise fans. Welcome Ike back to the big Nintendo brawl.
Considering Ike was a rather thin, teenage looking boy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Bandai Namco defintely put Ike on a workout regiment. He's bulked up, probably popping Maxim Tomatoes like candy or something. He's still sporting the bandana look, with a single pauldron to guard he weak shoulder while he swings his enormous two-handed sword. What's changed? Well, his sleeves are gone.
I'm actually rather surprised that Ike made the cut this time around. He was a relatively low-tier character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, though he has appeared in multiple Fire Emblem games, and there's a newer Fire Emblem game with several strong characters worth adding to the roster. Why bring Ike back? Maybe Namco just felt like adding as many characters as possible and Ike was easy to translate from Brawl to the new games.
Super Smash Bros. Wii U and Super Smash Bros. 3DS are planned to be released later this year for their respective consoles. Expect more information on the fighting game at E3, where there will be a Nintendo Direct event just for the game. Hopefully we'll get a release date too, plus maybe a few more characters in addition to Mr. Ike here. Now that Zero Suit Samus and Sheik are their own standalone characters, Ike had to bring out the gun show, didn't he?
