Capcom has now hammered down the release dates of Ultra Street Fighter IV's two different launches. At the tail end of a new trailer showing off pre-order costumes for Ultra Street Fighter IV's latest roster additions, the dates of June 3 for digital upgrades and August 5 for retail were slipped in with little fanfare. Celebration or not, fighting game community members will be very pleased to now have an official date for the Ultra Street Fighter IV release.
In addition to the release dates, Capcom also detailed the costume pack that will be included with Ultra Street Fighter IV preorders. One skin for each of the latest roster additions for five skins total. They're, erm, well they've certainly got a lot of personality:
- Elena - Jungle Elena
- Hugo - Medieval Hugo
- Poison - Pirate Poison
- Rolento - Wizard Rolento
- Decapre - Gladiator Decapre
Basically, the costumes are just like real Halloween dress-ups. Well, real as in college real. The guys get awesome, super elaborate and contextually accurate costumes while the ladies get "Sexy" versions, equally elaborate, but designed more to show off generous amounts of skin rather than being fiction consistent. Even transsexuals like Poison can't escape the gaming industry's voracious apetite for sexually objectified artistic design. At least all characters are equal as soon as the fight starts.
Ultra Street Fighter IV will launch as a digital upgrade to Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition on June 3, followed by a more expensive standalone retail version to launch August 5. Pre-order to get all the the wonderful costumes listed above.
