WayForward Technology is hard at work on their third Adventure Time title, announced today as Adventure Time: The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom. The secret is its name, ya? Ah bother, I've just spoiled the game. Planned for release on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo 3DS this November, Nameless Kingdom will allow players the control of both Finn and Jake as they explore this undiscovered kingdom hidden in the Land of Ooo.
Once again the title will be a top-down action/adventure game where our epic heroes solve puzzles, battles foes, meet new friends and just generally have a good time. This is a game based on an all-ages television show after all. It's described as, "reminiscent of early high fantasy console games."
There's certainly an amount of charm to WayForward's Adventure Time games, but they're hardly ambitious and certainly not large or polished enough to be considered great. Personally, I'd love to see what a larger developer could do with the Adventure Time license, especially after seeing Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward design a prototype for Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight. Still, these smaller games certainly have their audiences and are thought of well enough. That'll do. More Ooo is enough for me.
Adventure Time: The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom will be released in November 2014 for the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo 3DS.
