Spiders (the studio, not the arachnids) are less than a week away from launching their action title Bound by Flame and apparently they can't wait to share their excitement. Today they've released the game's launch trailer, one minute and forty-two seconds of mean men and monsters filled with rage, each making angry faces at the camera. Oh, and there's a necromancer lady in a corset who decided to fist fight with a barbarian dude with a demon inside him. Fantasy games, go figure. At least they didn't go full blown Age of Conan with chain mail bikinis.
The protagonist of Bound by Flame is, naturally, possessed by a flame demon. As is becoming such a popular theme in video games these days, the player will be torn between their inner dichotomy. The flame demon will battle for control from the character's humanity and which path is decided upon will lead to increasing powers. Really though, anyone who'd give up badass demon fire powers just to be a normal bro with a sword is making a terrible decision.
Pick up Bound by Flame starting this Friday, May 9, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Spiders is growing in stature after their recent titles, Mars War Logs and The Testament of Sherlock Holmes proved to be interesting games. Bound by Flame certainly looks like another step in the right direction for the studio, but ultimately the game will have to prove its worth with solid gameplay and an epic story. Marketing has certainly done their job, now it's up to the game itself.
