Because sleep is completely overrated, Red Barrels today released a new trailer and some screenshots for their upcoming horror game Outlast: Whistleblower. Originally announced for April release, Whistleblower is technically DLC for the first Outlast, but completely standalone. Come May 6, we can return to Mount Massive Asylum as the main who started this whole mess: Waylon Park.
Waylon worked at the asylum as a tech, and while bound by NDA, the horrors he witnessed at Mount Massive wound up being too much. So trying to do some good, he winds up contacting journalists -- including Miles, the protagonist of Outlast -- in hopes that they would expose the atrocities committed at the asylum.
Fun times. Aside from scaring the tar out of players, however, Whistleblower also serves as the final chapter (read: the real ending) to Outlast. Definitely worth looking into, considering how wonky the original ending was.
