Ever wanted to play the back nine with a dinosaur, princess from outer space, mushroom heroine, and a statue plumber? Now players have the opportunity to do just that with the recently announced DLC for Mario Golf: World Tour on the Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo is also presenting their fans with a season pass option for the first time, allowing players to pick up all three packs of downloadable content as soon as they are released.
Launching alongside the game on May 2 is the Mushroom Pack, introducing Toadette to the fairways. Next to play the greens will be Nabbit in the Flower Pack, coming at a later date in May. Last but not least is the Star Pack, featuring Rosalina, that comes to Toad's Booth in June. Each pack will feature two new courses with eighteen holes each, bringing the total number of playable holes from 126 to 234. For the players who aren't exactly sold on the DLC, Nintendo will be releasing a free Trial Pack with various holes from the DLC compiled into one course.
Of course, that's not all. Nintendo has also announced a new character that comes with the DLC - Gold Mario. Players who purchase the Season Pass will be gifted with the golden plumber at the time of purchase, while golfers who prefer to spread out their course-buying will have to wait until June. Gold Mario plays similar to everyone's favorite plumber, but comes with a Golden Flower shot that provides one coin for every yard the ball travels.
Unfortunately, Nintendo is not just giving these away. Fans can purchase each pack separately for $5.99 each, or go for the Season Pass at $14.99. Gold Mario is offered as an incentive to purchase all three packs, though Toadette, Nabbit, and Rosalina sound like enough for the average golfer. Nintendo 3DS owners will be able to pick up Mario Golf: World Tour starting on May 2 for $29.99 in the Nintendo eShop or physical retail.
