*sniff* It was only last July when we learned Namco Bandai commited to localizing Tales of Xillia 2 for North American and European release sometime this year. The publisher today confirms that "sometime this year" will be August 19th and 22nd for North America and Europe, respectively.
Just to make the wait for August all the more unbearable, Namco Bandai also pulls the wraps off the Collector's Edition for Xillia 2's English release. Priced at $129.99 USD, this limited edition bundle features a figure of main character Ludger Kresnik, an artbook, soundtrack sampler CD, a compact mirror fashioned to look like a classy pocket watch, and of course costume DLC that allows your characters to dress up as classic Tales series characters (Yuri Lowell, Emil Castagnier, and Asbel Lhant).
Unlike some other limited edition bundles these days, it also happens to come with the game. It's worth noting that the UK release of the Collector's Edition will only be available through Amazon. The North American CE comes with a mini plush keychain of Kresnik's cat Rollo (Lulu in the original Japanese release), while the European version instead includes an unfreakingbelievable metalcase immortalizing Rollo.
If the Collector's Edition proves out of reach for you, or the prospect of introducing a figure of a male video game character into your harem of saucy female anime figures is heresy defined, Namco Bandai is also releasing a leaner "Day One Edition" package which includes the game, soundtrack sampler CD and a metalcase with alternate artwork featuring the main cast of characters. It appears the D1 Edition is limited to Europe given absence of any mention in the North American press release but really... you'll end up passing on Rollo.
