Hot on the heals of the robust Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn's 2.2 "Through the Maelstrom" patch comes the launch of the PlayStation 4 port of the popular MMO. Yes, now denizens of Eorzea can experience the setting channeled through a DualShock 4. Or, for that matter, through the handheld PlayStation Vita and Sony's remote play functionality. Pick up Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on PS4 for $39.99, $79.99 for the Collector's Edition today.
Speaking of the Collector's Edition, I should make mention that the PlayStation 4 version of the package includes a couple of goodies that the PC version didn't add. Luckily these additions will be given for free to PC Collector's Edition owners, since they've already made the investment. Specifically, there are two new toys to pick up: the Fat Chocobo mount (squee) and the Wind-Up Moogle minion.
I've always been skeptical of MMOs being ported to consoles, going all the way back to the PlayStation 2's hard drive addition so players could pick up Final Fantasy XI. I've heard nothing but good things about the PlayStation 3 port of Final Fantasy XIV though, and I bet the PlayStation 4 version looks all the better.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is now available on PlayStation 4. It costs $39.99 for the standard edition or $79.99 for the Collector's Edition (retail, or $59.99 for the digital Collector's Edition). Bundled in is 30-days of game time with subscriptions coming in at $12.99 a month after that.
