Can't get enough of the heroically furry Lombax? English retailer ShopTo put up a listing for a PlayStation Vita game called the Ratchet & Clank Trilogy. Based on tentative boxart and title, it can be assumed to be a handheld port of the Ratchet & Clank Collection previously released in both North America and Europe. Sony has not yet confirmed or denied the existence of the collection, but fans can hope for the best, right?
The Ratchet & Clank Collection is one of the original series compilation titles released on the PlayStation 3. Packaged with Ratchet and Clank, Going Commando, and Up Your Arsenal, the collection delivers the original trilogy in high definition, excluding a few cutscenes here and there. Of course, nobody plays these games for the cutscenes; the series is all about the solid platforming, shooting, and wrenching.
The game weaves its way through a large story, beginning with Ratchet and Clank battling Ultimate Supreme Executive Chairman Drek to save Ratchet's homeworld, Veldin. In Going Commando, the heroic duo travels to a new galaxy, taking on a job from the jumbled "Abercrombie Fizzwidget" to reclaim a mysterious weapon from a masked thief. In the third installment in the series, Up Your Arsenal, Ratchet and Clank work together with the Galactic Rangers to stop the evil Dr. Nefarious from bringing his Age of Inorganic Beings into existence with the Biobliterator. All of this while being pushed behind the shoddy hero, Captain Copernicus Qwark.
Unfortunately, Insomniac Games and Sony have not yet given any official word regarding the PlayStation Vita port. The retailer tentatively lists a release date for the UK on June 20th, though prior to any official announcement any release date must be taken with a grain of salt. Hopefully fans can expect official confirmation (or denial) of the Ratchet & Clank Trilogy's existence in the next few weeks.
