If there was ever another reason needed to become a Final Fantasy geek, Sony just provided it. A Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn themed PlayStation 4, given the code name FFXIV-1400, has been announced for release exclusively on the Japanese market starting April 14. For 45,180 yen, approximately $437, fans can pick up the PS4 with a swanky new hard drive cover and a copy of the MMO installment in the popular RPG series. Only 1400 units of this edition will be created and sold.
A Realm Reborn tells the tale of a young hero called forth by the Mothercrystal to begin his journey. The hero must now work alongside the Eorzean Adventurer's Guild and take on quests after a great shadow is cast upon the planet Hydaelyn. Fortunately, players can now go on their quest using their snazzy new PS4. If players are just interested in the console/game bundle, however, the hard drive cover with the inscribed logo can be removed. Who wants dusty innards on a console, though?
Interested yet? Unfortunately there's no stateside release planned just yet, and it doesn't look like there ever will be. Players can, however, purchase the hard drive cover separately if they are already owners of the PlayStation 4 console. That is, if they're willing to import.
