Mojang's Notch: "We were in talks about maybe bringing a version of Minecraft to Oculus. I just cancelled that deal. Facebook creeps me out."

Just minutes after the announcement and one of indie gaming's biggest brands drops any Oculus Rift plans. Selling to Facebook is philosophically just a terrible decision by Oculus. Not that they care -- they're rich now.

Yeah this is bad, what the hell will facebook do with VR? Whats their goal? It probably won't be as open or as game oriented as it could have been, such a shame too. These two technologies don't really belong at all.

Facebook is slowly meeting its decline and from the looks of it, they are going to grab onto whatever will keep them afloat when their website goes under. Why did something as great as Oculus have to get caught up in this?! This can't lead to any good future for the Rift.

Does this mean if I try to play a porn game on Oculus it'll automatically share it to Facebook?

Well Sony's project morpheus might win then, heck even Microsoft's VR might be better. Hopefully though its just in name only and not having Facebook take complete control of it. I would like to have VR actually work it would be awesome to have something Sword Art online (except being trapped in the game) heck I remember .Hack had the same thing sorta (and hopefully no coma's)

Jesus christ, theres a reason why i refuse to be on facebook... so now not only do you have to read through all the constant useless status changes, you can virtually be a part of them... yay for never having to have another REAL social experience in your life.

Well, shit.

Actually, you know what I just thought about? What happened to the people who chipped in on Kickstarter for the Oculus Rift? Will they be getting anything they were promised now that Facebook is in ownership?

Dang, Oculus was going to be something hopefully amazing... now Facebook has probably ruined it.

If he's serious than Sony should try to get Minecraft for their VR device.

Out of all the possibilities, they sold Oculus to a social network.. What a god damn waste. Well, you're up Microsoft/Sony, let's see what you guys can do with VR.
