While it's unfortunate that it isn't Ascaron continuing to take the Sacred brand in to the future, Keen Games and Deep Silver have taken up the mantle and Sacred 3 is looking very nice. Today Sacred 3's launch date was revealed, coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC starting August 26. Accompanying the announcement is the game's first gameplay reveal as well, showcasing the colorful and bloody ARPG action that the franchise is known for.
As for specific content to look out for, take note that Sacred 3's brand new class -- the Malakhim -- is shown off in all his glory in the latest trailer. That's alongside other Sacred character classes like the Seraphim, the Ancarian, the Khukuhru and the Safiri. Also noted is that the adventurers of Sacred 3 will be hunting down the Black Seraphim, a familiar rival from Sacred 2.
It's good to see that Deep Silver and Keen Games are doing what they can to retain the identity of the past Sacred games, pulling enemies and all the old character classes back for the new title. Sure, that could just be them capitalizing on already existing content, but it's also a smart choice in terms of continuing the franchise. Show fans that the developer cares as much as the old developer and they'll stick with the series.
Sacred 3 will be available starting August 36 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Hopefully it delivers on the Sacred gameplay experience fans know and love.
