Child of Light lands in April, and today Ubisoft has released a rather fascinating "Making of" trailer for this beautiful 2D RPG. So far, everything we've seen of Child of Light suggests it's a must-play, and the developers at Ubisoft Montreal go a bit more in-depth in the new behind-the-scenes video.
In order to achieve the hand-painted look in Child of Light, particularly in the watercolor-esque backgrounds, Ubisoft Montreal uses concept art as-is. Rather than refining concept artwork for use in the game, they insert what they have directly into the game in order to create its unique look.
The engine you see in action is UbiArt, the same tech used in the recent Rayman games. No surprise there.
