We're past the point where PlayStation 4 indie gets are surprising events, right? Good, because we're adding another sweet looking indie to the tally, as Team Colorblind announced today that their upcoming 2D action and strategy title Aztez will be coming to PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Xbox One, and Wii U in addition to the previously announced PC, Linux and Max release. No release date is currently confirmed, but Colorblind did say the PC version of the title will launch first with the console versions to follow.
Aztez, for those who are unfamiliar, is at its core a 2D action brawler that claims to have the complexity and difficulty of a classic Devil May Cry title. However, rather than connecting fights together via sketchy platforming elements Aztez took a unique and enticing route -- they also became a strategy title. Yes, fights in Aztez are connected via a Risk-like overworld strategy experience to create a 2D action title unlike any other. Add in a sexy black, white and red stylized art scheme and Aztez should be added to any gamer's indie watch list.
Oddly enough a lot of the news for Aztez going around is saying the game will be console exclusive to Sony's platforms, which isn't true. I suppose that's just Sony's lead in marketing for their indie titles. Team Colorblind does clarify on their development blog that Aztez will be coming to all the platforms previously listed and not just Sony's. The more the merrier!
Aztez will hopefully be launching in 2014 on PC, followed by console releases on PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Xbox One and Wii U. Check out the latest combat teaser trailer released today and hopefully Team Colorblind will have a look at the strategy gameplay too.
