PopCap's doing its Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare community right, announcing today the upcoming release of the free "Garden Variety Pack" DLC. It's always a great feeling when a neighbor shares the spoils of their garden. The DLC, available Tuesday, March 18 will include three abilities for each class, an all new 8v8 "Gnome Bomb" mode and a "funtastic" map.
By far Garden Warfare's best aspect is its almost excessive amount of ridiculous content. It makes an unreasonable amount of sense that DLC for the third-person multiplayer shooter would focus on, not differentiating the content, but rather doubling down on the inanity. Did the game really need pirate zombies on Sharkbite Shores? Nope, but the map is getting them anyway.
While PopCap hasn't provided the full list of changes and new abilities, they did tease the following upgrades: Sunflower’s Solar Flare Beam, Chomper’s Super Goop which cements zombies in place and the All-Star Zombie’s Ultra Tackle. There's three abilities for each class, for a total of 24 abilities as-yet-unseen. Let's just hope players don't have to grind another four weeks to unlock everything, am I right?
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is now available on Xbox One and Xbox 360 with a PC release planned for later this year. Expect the first Garden Variety DLC pack to be released tomorrow, March 18, for absolutely free. Well, I suppose PopCap's confirmed that all DLC packs will be free, so... awesome. Cool, cool, cool. Plant that seed in the ground and grow it.
