I'm not really keen on Blizzard's recent games's business models. I was watching a stream of HOTS last night on Twitch and the guy mentioned he had already spent over $100 on heroes and what not. I was like daaaamn, you have to spend at least that much to fully enjoy the game? no thanks.

tekmosis It appears that the game content is free aside from the initial purchase. You can get heroes, skins, talents etc. with cash and achievements.
Personally, I have no problem with this because, remember, this IS a MOBA. If your hero choice is restricted, it means that you will become better with those select few heroes.

Sorry about the weeks-late reply.

Blizzard's following the same model LoL uses for HotS. Just like Hearthstone, you can either pay with real money or you can pay by spending more time in-game to earn the gold you need to buy something you want. You don't have to pay to fully enjoy the game. You just get to unlock heroes faster by paying.

I'm aware of their business model, and I think it's inferior compared to DotA 2's. My statement still stands though because if you play through the free hero rotations and like a couple of them you either have to play enough to earn that Hero but you still wont be able to get the second until you play more. People are impatient and to fully enjoy the game 'out of the box' you need to pay.

While I understand that many may get patient, I find it to be a blessing.

HotS is even better than LoL in-that you can unlock skins without paying. I read on the site that maxing out a character and then doing some achievements gets you a skin for them.
This makes it even more free than LoL is. I like it.

This is all down to opinion, anyway. Here is mine:

I play DotA2 a lot, but I never select the same hero twice because I play Single Draft and All Random (All Pick is too much choice, I am still bewildered by the amount of heroes in the game). I am not as good at DotA2 because I keep switching my heroes up. Also, because of this, I don't even know what lanes I prefer, what kind of character I prefer and so on.
In LoL, I have about 5 champions that I am very familiar with and can wreck with consistently. I win more and have far more success because I am experienced with them.

That's just my own opinion on the matter. I prefer it this way. I also think that it adds longevity to the game because I have considered quitting DotA2 a few times because nothing new was happening. I didn't, but I considered it, unlike LoL, with which I was always striving to unlock new things.
