You lost me at "live action"... How the hell would they even make it live action anyway? Make a movie in a setting not Minecraft, but in the real wold? Yeah, see, that's cute and all, but that would really remove the whole "blocky" motif that makes Minecraft... well, Minecraft. To not animate it would be a severe injustice. I swear, if this project goes anywhere at all, it'd better be in the right direction.

Oh, and they had better put a nod to Herobrine in there somewhere. That's practically expected.

The live action trailer thing that Rocketjump did awhile ago was live action and was great. Funniliy enough, Notch took down their video and kick starter iirc. I wish it was still up, it was great. You might still be able to find it.
EDIT: Found a kotaku artical on it http://kotaku.com/yep-that-looks-like-a-feature-length-minecraft-movie-1517813506

Basically, a lot of people see a lot of profit in a Minecraft movie and want a piece of the pie.
Nail => Head. How is it that there can be so many great video games out there, with amazingly written plots, characters, and dialogue, and they choose to make a movie out of a goddamned sandbox? Oh, right, because it's the most popular and we want to make a crappy movie that rakes in millions rather than anything with any sort of artistic merit. Well yee-haw, colour me excited.

Here's how to make a great videogame movie:

1. Get BioWare to write the script
2. ???
3. Profit

ims2golfer - See, the picture in my head when I read "live action" was "completely live action with little to no animation involved". I suppose that, perhaps, if they went the way of films like Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland or James Cameron's Avatar where live action is assisted by animation (obviously not as well-funded, of course) it could be done well, but let's pray we don't get something like the Super Mario Bros Movie.

I agree with everything in this statement. +1

Every video game movie that was based off of a game as been a let down, because personally I can get more out of a game.
I loved professor Layton and the eternal diva. But I wish it was a game, not a movie.
When mine craft has basically no story driven gameplay, this doesn't happen. This is the only reason I might consider watching this movie.
Make it good, make millions.
Make it bad, make millions.

I find it very just that the director for the very charming and successful Lego Movie has decided to adopt this tentative baby; however, that doesn't mean it'll be a pretty child. You got the brains of the outfit, but that outfit is inevitably going to have a fraction of the budget and about two dozen fewer already-famous IPs to stick on the cover.

I have not seen the Lego Movie yet, but I have faith in this film if that film succeeded. Sounds like it has some good potential.

This will cause an Incident. I just know it. I'm going to laugh when it comes out as well. If I somehow actually see it for whatever silly reason, I'm likely going to laugh.

There are some games you just can't make movies out of, no matter how good the game may be.

This is one of those games.
Don't get me wrong, I like Minecraft and all, but making a movie about it seems pointless, given that there isn't much of a point to the game.
That, and er... live action?

Oh for *bleep*s sake.

I like Minecraft but you won't catch me dead seeing this in the cinema. Certain things should just be left alone.
