Bit of Metal Gear Solid V news for everyone as we're about a month away from the launch of Ground Zeroes. Konami revealed a couple DLC additions to the game that will carry over into The Phantom Pain. The first bit will be exclusive to early purchasers of Ground Zeroes, while the rest is available to all players. The DLC content revolves around acquiring additional staff for an area called the "Mother Base." Oh, and there's a bit of a pricing update for Ground Zeroes too.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes has an odd pricing scheme. Basically, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game are more expensive than their PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 counterparts, plus retail versions of the game are cheaper than their digital counterparts. It's actually a rather reasonable pricing arrangement from a consumer point of view. The change effects the retail price of the PS4 and Xbone versions of the game, which will now cost $29.99 instead of $39.99 -- the same price as each console's digital release. Not bad? Not bad.
Getting back to the DLC, all Konami is willing to say about the "Mother Base" is that it plays a key role in The Phantom Pain. Maybe it's some sort of base of operations where the more staff on-hand the more gear Snake gets? Seems odd. Anyway, the early adopter DLC unlocks additional staff straight away, but the other DLC that crosses over will depend on the player releasing prisoners of war and VIPs who will then hang out at the Mother Base. Sounds a bit like an old RPG.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes launches March 18 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Let's get this going so we can start to hear more about The Phantom Pain already. That trailer...
