Everyone can go home now. TowerFall Ascension is pretty much the best game of 2014. I'm calling it. Yeah, the local multiplayer powerhouse is not even out yet, but at least developer Matt Makes Games has confirmed the release date. Yes, TowerFall Ascension, the hugely updated version of the OUYA's best-selling game, will becoming to both PlayStation 4 and PC starting March 11. Get yo' digital download on, yo.
What is TowerFall? Let me start off by slapping your face. TowerFall is a glorious local multiplayer game released exclusively for the OUYA that may have single-handedly assured the OUYA's continued existence for the foreseeable future. It's a 2D platforming competitive game where up to 4 players shoot arrows at each other, collect power-ups and have irresponsible amounts of fun. It's outstanding.
Coming to PlayStation 4 and PC isn't just a hop and a skip and boom we have our port. Oh no. Matt Makes Games is stepping it up and iterating the heck out of this bad boy -- we're talking single-player. Yes, now 1-2 players can work together to conquer TowerFall Ascension's Quest mode, which has our heroes fight off monsters in the same arenas introduced in competitive play. Plus there's 50 new competitive arenas too. Aw yiss.
TowerFall Ascension's prepped to stir that classic party-game nostalgia folk have been missing since Joust was released. It's all possible starting March 11 for both the PC and the PlayStation 3, unless you already have an OUYA.
