Our fourth and final NIS America localization announcement for now is Compile Heart's Fairy Fencer F. For those unfamiliar, Compile Heart is known for their Hyperdimension Neptunia series and have partnered with NIS for several other localizations, like Mugen Souls Z. Fairy Fencer F, like Hyperdimension Neptunia, is a turn-based RPG with a heavy anime-inspired art style. As close to playing an anime without going full-blown visual novel.
My immediate response to watching the announcement trailer is that I feel like I've seen many of these environments in a Hyperdimension Neptunia game before. I'm not sure if that's true or not, but in all fairness the art styles are extremely similar, not to mention the combat from the looks of it. What's different though is the attitude of the game, which seems to have at least a semi-serious tone to it, focusing a bit more on intense action versus humor.
Stay tuned for more information on Fairy Fencer F, coming to the PlayStation 3 as both a digital and retail release in 2014. If you like Hyperdimension Neptunia, but maybe would prefer a more serious tone with a tad richer lore and backstory, then Fairy Fencer F may be your game.
