What kind of owl smashes a banana right in front of an ape and his family? A monster that deserves to be put in his place is that kind of owl, I'm telling you. Luckily Donkey Kong and I agree, because that's the premise that begins Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Starting February 21 Wii U owners in North America can pick the platforming game up for themselves, but today they can enjoy the game's very early released launch trailer.
In the trailer not only are we treated to a cinematic showing off the nefarious owls and the Kong Clan, but also a quick and dirty tour of many of Tropical Freeze's worlds. From villages built into cliff-sides to beach-side jungles, to fruit factories and then back to the mine-cart rides of Donkey Kong past, Tropical Freeze creates a world unlike any other we've seen in the franchise. The backgrounds are vibrant and Donkey Kong needs constantly be wary of everything on-screen. It looks like hectic, exciting fun.
Retro Studios' Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is finally here, with just a week until its February 21 launch date. What with the developer's experience with Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Wii, fans can certainly expect Tropical Freeze to blow us out of the water with its crisp platforming and gorgeous visuals. Hell, this may be Nintendo's best exclusive for the platform yet.
