So is Halo 5 delayed? Are we going to see Halo 2 Anniversary this year? Adding creedance to some older rumors floating around, Master Chief voice actor Steve Downes recently confirmed both those not-so-burning questions in an interview. Well, sort of. He ended up bebunking the rumors he helped bolster, around the same time a Microsoft rep did the same.
During an interview earlier this week with GameZone, Downes was asked about his work on Halo 5. To that, he stated:
"I think you may be ahead of yourself on Halo 5. I wouldn’t expect anything until 2015. What you can look forward to this year is an anniversary edition of Halo 2."
Not surprisingly, others noticed this little mention, and it spread like wildfire. Previously, a leak on neoGAF stated the same things -- that Halo 5 had been delayed to 2015 and Halo 2 Anniversary was coming out late this year.
Hours after Downes' interview took flight, he came back with an explanation, and claimed he did not mean to imply Halo 2 Anniversary was actually a thing:
"What I said was: 'I think you're ahead of yourself on H5. I have read some things on line that you can look forward to a H2 anniversary edition maybe this year, but I have no official information one way or the other,'" Downes told us. "I was just mentioning some of the things I had read online about Halo 2. I have no idea if there will be an anniversary edition and didn't mean to leave that impression."
Additionally, a Microsoft spokesperson debunked the rumors, stating, "We can confirm your next Halo journey will begin in 2014, but beyond that we don't have any details to share at this time."
Well, okay then.
