Rather a surprise to everyone, but NES Remix's surprise release in December 2013 apparently went over a lot better than expected. It did so well, in fact, that Nintendo is already hard at work on NES Remix 2 for release April 25. For a rather clunky, semi-tedious game where players do challenges based on classic NES experiences, apparently Nintendo is finding a lot of value in the experience.
Just as the original NES Remix focused on games from early on in the NES' lifespan, NES Remix 2 will focus on games that were released later. Some of the games shown or announced are Super Mario Bros. 3, Kirby’s Adventure and Metroid, though I definitely see some Punch Out! in there too. Odds are there will be a few other surprises for players to discover as well.
One of those surprises, Nintendo revealed, is a full game actually. It's the classic Super Mario Bros. only, well, remixed into Super Luigi Bros. The main difference? The player will be running right to left instead of vice versa, plus Mario will be replaced by the green Luigi. Kind of a goofy addition that I'd imagine will be super disorienting. I think that fits for a game starring Luigi.
NES Remix will launch on April 25 exclusively via the Wii U eShop for the cost of $14.99
