By the end of March, PS4 will be nearly six millions Hope it could rival the PS2's software library in its lifetime.

Although it outsold the Xbox One by 2x, the PS4's numbers, as well as all gaming devices across the board, are nothing worth celebrating for.
Overall, all hardware numbers are disastrous and probably won't improve until the big releases in March.

Most of the games coming out are developed by companies that would put out games even if only sold two million. It doesn't take a lot for a company to decide wether or not to develop for a Playstation console.

Same with the Xbox One. Even if the sales numbers were the same as last gen we'd have EA, Activision, Take2, etc. developing or publishing games.

It would if it were the Wii U.

Didn't the PS3 sell slower initially than the 360, only to catch up later and surpass the 360?

The same may happen with the Xbox One, especially if MS manage to crank out a cheaper model.

Tough competition. The PS2 still has one of the greatest libraries of games in the pas 20 years imo, that's of course if you were referring to the quality and not quantity of games?

Didn't the PS3 come out a year later and was really expensive?

I remember a lot of people bought them just because they were "cheap" Blu-Ray players.

I worked retail at that time, and people who were never going to put a game in the system would buy them solely for that reason.

Now look at how affordable Blu-Ray players have become, even the 3D and the ones with 4K content.
