The Darksiders and Red Faction franchises are far from dead. Nordic Games, current owners of both IPs, today revealed their plans to release "collections" for both series. When asked, Nordic mentioned this being a good way to "keep a close eye on the community" and help determine interest.
The two collections were first spotted on the company's website, then on Amazon UK, where they were listed for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Well, Darksiders will be; the Red Faction bundle won't be making it to 360.
Anyway, the Darksiders collection will supposedly include Darksiders, Darksiders II, and all season pass content. On PC, the set is being called Darksiders Complete.
As for Red Faction, that bundle will bring together Red Faction, Red Faction: Guerilla, Red Faction: Armageddon, and Armageddon's Path of War. The PC version will also included Red Faction 2.
When Nordic responded to the "leak," they noted the dates on the Amazon listings were incorrect. Currently, they're only sure of a Q2 release window, but no solid dates. Nordic also explained their reasons for releasing these collections:
"The Collections are a good way for us to keep a close eye on the community and if we were ever to go ahead with new game development in the franchises, their feedback will be eagerly received.
"There won't be any new content included in each of the games, but the first thing which we're looking to tackle in the coming weeks / months is the removal of Games for Windows Live in the PC version of Red Faction."
The Austrian publisher bought both Darksiders and Red Faction following THQ's closure. Unfortunately for fans, Nordic stated they had no real plans to make sequels, but former Vigil Games co-founder Ryan Stefanelli asked the publisher to treat their creation (Darksiders, in this case) with care, anyway.
