Our monthly Nintendo Direct event has been announced after a relaxing January off, yet again on the eve of the presentation. February's Direct will start on Thursday, February 13 at 2:00 PM PST/5:00 PM EST/10:00 PM GMT. This will be the first Nintendo Direct since Nintendo's poor sales details were announced to the world, so it will be particularly interesting to see whether the format of the show changes in any dramatic way.
On the Wii U, we can expect to see updates on Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze and Mario Kart 8, to be sure. It wouldn't surprise me if they went beyond their spring schedule and started showing some Smash Bros., Sonic Boom or Hyrule Warriors stuff too. As for 3DS, well, theres a variety of games to choose from. Hrm, actually... not many games have confirmed release dates yet. Professor Layton's latest game, Yoshi's New Island, Conception 2 and Disney Magical World could likely be shown.
Altogether not terrible spring launch line-ups, but it's the lack of a supporting cast of game releases that perhaps is most surprising. Hopefully Nintendo comes out and fleshes out the line-ups for both Wii U and 3DS with two or three more release date confirmations tomorrow.
Personally I'm not so worried about the spring line-ups so much as games further down the road. I'd love to hear at least one big game announcement from Nintendo tomorrow -- preferably for the Wii U.
Whatever Nintendo shows or announces tomorrow, we'll be there! Make sure the check out Neo between 1:30 and 2:00 PM PST as we'll be hosting a live-blog and live-chat for the community to participate in. Let's all shout loudly at Nintendo together! In support of their efforts, naturally.
