The more I see of Ubisoft Montreal's Child of Light the more excited I get. It's one thing to beg for more RPGs, but it's another to see something both unique and respectful of the genre coming out of a major publisher like Ubisoft. Thus, when they say Child of Light will be launching on April 30 for $14.99, I clear my schedule and mark the date with a heart. Then I play the newly released gameplay trailer for the hundredth time as I swoon, slowly falling upon my bed. Ahem.
In the Child of Light gameplay introduction trailer we see several key features keyed in on:
- Classic RPG Turn-Based Combat
- 600+ Crafting Combinations
- Explore the Vast World of Lemuria
- 200+ Skills to Unlock
Then in addition the actual gameplay in the trailer showcases combat, the 2D platforming featured in the game that borders on action, and a variety of puzzles. Maybe it's just Ubisoft's talented trailer team, but they do an outstanding job of weaving in and out of a variety of aspects of the game and showcasing how great each part looks. Gah, I can't contain myself.
Child of Light's April 30 launch will come to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U and of course PC as well. Charging only $14.99, which puts its in the same price range as Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed IV DLC gone standalone Freedom's Cry, is either hilarious or generous. I won't complain either way! Check out Child of Light's new trailer to see what the game is all about.
