Keiji Inafune, creator of the incredibly popular Mega Man series, has recently announced that he has no intention of making his newest project, Mighty No. 9, just like its spiritual predecessor. Inafune, head of Comcept, has stated that though the two games will indeed share similar traits, his newest project will not be a carbon copy of his legendary hero.
In a recent conversation with Joystiq, Inafune clarified that Mighty No. 9 was in no way a step backward. In fact, Comcept's goal is to revolutionize something that is already loved by the masses - classic Japanese action:
"Although it has very many similar elements to past titles such as Mega Man, we're trying to do something new with it. Something different, something that will, in a manner of speaking, betray the fans in a good way. Completely do something unexpected, as well as keeping that classic Japanese action that people are looking forward to."
Though he didn't offer any specific examples, we won't be kept in the dark for long. New information is always coming out, so make sure to stay tuned for more from Inafune and his team. Mighty No. 9 is currently slated for a launch in April of 2015, so it won't be long before you get to enjoy that classic Mega Man feel with all new twists!
