It seems like Watch Dogs' future on the Wii U is dubious at best as rumors continue to grow that the open-world hacking game has been canceled for the platform. Last week Nintendo released a list of their upcoming 2014 games and curiously absent was one specific Ubisoft title -- the previously mentioned Watch Dogs. As expected, this caused quite a stir amongst a fan-base already confused with the situation.
Just a few weeks ago GameStop of Italy began telling customers that Ubisoft had canceled development on the Nintendo Wii U version of Watch Dogs, including canceling pre-orders. Fortunately the popular game distributor quickly reversed, brushing it off as simply a "glitch in the system." Now though it seems like perhaps GameStop Italia may have had forward knowledge of the situation.
Could this be another example of Nintendo support being dropped by a large publisher? Hopefully not, but only time will tell. If Watch Dogs on the Wii U still exists, you can expect to see its release within the first quarter of the fiscal year 2014, starting April. Don't fret though, non-Nintendo gamers, because versions for both Sony and Microsoft consoles, as well as PC, are still in development. With respect to the Wii U though, Ubisoft is refusing to offer an official statement.
