What is Namco Bandai thinking!? They've just announced that Lucario of Pokemon fame will be joining the Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS. Think about it... they've just announced Lucario is playable in a FIGHTING GAME. Lucario has 2x weakness to fighting! It doesn't make any sense. Let alone if he ends up facing Bowser with his fire breath, or Donkey Kong with his ground pound. Wow, it's like these guys don't even play Pokemon.
Okay, okay, fun's over. Yes, Lucario has been announced as the next Super Smash Bros. playable fighter. He returns after joining the roster in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Only this time his roster spot is more relevant than ever. Lucario plays a relatively significant role in Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, being the first Pokemon that the player it taught to use Mega Evolution with.
The question quickly becomes whether Lucario will feature a Mega Evolution in Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U and 3DS. In the dozen screenshots we've been provided with there's unfortunately no evolution going on. However, I don't believe they show his smash attack, so perhaps he has a secret in store for us.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS is planned for release later this year, which is to say it's looking more and more like a fall release unless we get a release date soon. With Lucario's addition the roster now equals 22 playable fighters, after King Dedede, Zelda and Rosalina were added in recent months.
