This is the image some people have been finding in their e-mails recently. I wish I could say this is an April Fool's prank, but this is an actual Microsoft promotion. From now until March 2, Microsoft stores will be accepting PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 S, and Xbox 360 E systems in exchange for up to $100 of in store credit towards the purchase of a new Xbox One. Microsoft is willing to recycle your PS3 if you have no further use for it, but there's no word yet on whether it will be taken out back and smashed into pieces first.
As with most promotions, restrictions apply. Namely, the console you're wanting to trade in must be able to turn on and play games. Further, it can't be damaged or password protected and you'll have to bring all the cables and the controller that came with your soon to be recycled system along for the ride. The fine print also says that you'll have to buy an Xbox One in the same transaction for "maximum" trade-in value.
Only time will tell if this is an early sign of distress coming from Microsoft because of Sony's surprising success with the PlayStation 4 or if this is just a cheap way to win people over to the Xbox camp.
