Tropico doesn't intuitively seem like a franchise that would convert very well to consoles. Yet something about the PlayStation 4 is causing many developers, Kalypso Media included, to consider bringing their games to the platform -- however unintuitive that may seem at first. Yes, Tropico 5 has now been confirmed for release on PlayStation 4. El Presidente's empire continues to grow.
Stefan Marcinek, Global Managing Director at Kalypso Media, offered the following uninformative statement along with an alarming revelation:
"We have been evaluating many new and exciting development opportunities for the Tropico brand and by bringing Tropico 5 to PlayStation 4 we open a new chapter in the history of the game. By taking full advantage of the PlayStation 4’s processing power the island of Tropico and El Presidente have never looked better."
Does Stefan mean to imply that El Pesidente is looking more handsome than ever? Why exactly does Kalypso feel the need to sexy El President up for a new platform? Okay, this joke is terrible and I'm done.
Tropico 5 on the PlayStation 4 is a fun idea, but Kalypso Media definitely has their work cut out for them in terms of proving the game can work on a console. Wait, Tropico 4 was on Xbox 360? Tropico 5 is also announced for Xbox 360? Well fine then, I guess I have nothing interesting to say at all. Take your sexy El Presidente and make Tropico 5 for whatever platform you please, Kalypso!
