Delays aren't abnormal, but rarely are games delayed the week of launch because a game a received additional funding and can now be added to and enhanced. That, however, is precisely the case for Bloober Team's Bomberman-like arcade game for the PlayStation 4, Basement Crawl. Planned for launch later this week, Basement Crawl has now been delayed with no new release window. What even.
Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno detailed the confusing situation for us:
"While the completed version of Basement Crawl was prepped for launch during the last week, several exciting opportunities to partner with major industry players to enhance, refine and add-to the game arose. Although a difficult decision, we decided that the best choice for us, as a team, was to delay Basement Crawl so that we could take full advantage of these opportunities. We will be able leverage those new partnerships to further grow and improve the game while still providing an amazingly fun multiplayer experience for PS4 owners. We’ll be able to announce more details in the days and weeks to come."
Featuring 8-player multiplayer online and 4-player local multiplayer, Basement Crawl should immediately throw many gamers back into Bomberman nostalgia. Columns and row of explosions with powerups and plenty more. All now with a creepy aesthetic that altogether is a rather ... interesting and creative choice. Yes. Let's go with that.
Expect more information on Basement Crawl, hopefully with updated release information on PlayStation 4, soon. Hopefully we'll also here or see what exactly Bloober Team felt they needed to delay the game to in order to add immediately. It'd have to be something worth the rather startling delay.
