Renegade Kid has been teasing their upcoming project for some time now, an FPS release for the 3DS. Fans were getting all stirred up, after all, the developer's DS release Moon was an interesting experiment. Little did we know that the new title was in fact a remake of Moon for the 3DS, retitled Moon Chronicles and released episodically. Oof. Not exactly a thrilling announcement in the end.
Moon Chronicles will be split into four distinct digital episodes with the first, "One Small Step," currently without an announced release date. The format of the release begins to make sense when you hear that Renegade Kid plans to release an all-new Season 2 of Moon Chronicles in 2015. Basically, that means that Season 1 is testing the waters or perhaps seeking funding for the continued development of the series.
If sci-fi FPS on the Nintendo 3DS are something you'd like to see more then make sure to listen for more Moon Chronicles details in the near future. Episode 1 will retail for $8.99 and feature about 4 hours of gameplay, with the following three episodes costing much less at $1.99 for around 2 hours of gameplay each.
