Add in Steam's digital distribution system and you'll be the one consoling your best friend when his PS4 or Xbox One dies with his favorite game stuck in the disc slot.
But you know that you can buy digital games on the PS4/Xbone too. Pretty sure all games are required to have a digital copy on the shop now.

Doesn't the Xbone have full game installs from disc?

Both do^.

I hate Alienware I'm just gonna be blunt about it. So them trying to force you to buy a new model(which as you can see was the original idea) is not only pissing me off but contributing to my already growing dislike for these Steam Machines.

I mean is it so hard to do one for yourself Valve? Just one? Are you trying to be a contender in the console market or are you just trying to market PCs for the living room?

I don't think I've ever said dislike & Valve in the same sentence before.

Considering the cost of the thing, can people who buy it afford upgrades? Alienware are grossly overpriced as it is anyway. People either buy them because the case looks cool or because of bragging.

May as well just install Steam OS on a self-build if you want a Steam Machine. Much cheaper and you get what you actually want for less.

I'm guessing the upgradability will probably be similar to laptops.

Razer's Project Christine looks far more promising than the Steam machines. Fairly portable and swapping out parts is incredibly easy.

I still can't work out what the hell the point of owning one of these is.

JUST BUY A NORMAL PC.
