I'm afraid I'd get nervous watching a livestream of a speedrun. What if they mess up? Their rage-quit will put lives in danger

samwise995 Haha, unfortunately they don't normally do the type of runs that result in world records during these marathons. They switch to "marathon strats" which are typically still insanely fast, but remove the parts that force a run to be restarted or otherwise take much longer to complete if failed.

Love that the guy on the Yoshi Island playthrough now is pretty gym power, kinda debunks the idea that all nerdy gamers are scrawny little guys.

They've had world records achieved at past AGDQ's. Will one happen this time? Hard to say, but it's fun to watch these streams nonetheless!

Did he beat the estimate of 3 Hours 20 Minutes?

Yes they did CTTR champion. I want to say the actual time was about two hours and thirty minutes, but I don't recall exactly.

During that particular run, the fire alarm went off, yet they still beat the estimate!

Good, I was hoping he did. I decided to play a bit of NFS: World instead of watching him beat the time.

I really hope I don't see anybody play the Ghosts 'n Goblins trilogy on here, I just beat those games for the first time, I don't want to see my accomplishments so greatly diminished ):

This is great though, what better way to make marathon gaming fully practical than to use it towards charity?

Question: have any of the people managed to die during their speedruns? That would be terrible in the older gen games as they'd have to start from the beginning of the level in recent gen games, not so much.

I love these guys. I have been watching them for about a year 1/2.
They also have a channel on Youtube.

It's cool how they put all of the donations to charity.

EDIT: bluexy
Thanks for the article.

I've only seen the Yoshi's Island guy so far, he died a couple of times so I assume it's not like, World Record setting or something, but it's still pretty fast.

The SMB one is bull. How is he surviving hitting those pipe plant things. I'm not sure what they're called.

Generally, most speed-runs allow taking full advantage of bugs and glitches. In fact most of the games being run will have many of these. Usually they're very difficult to pull off, but save a ton of time. If you see the audience clapping it's usually because the runner was able to do one of these difficult time-saving glitches.
