Zelda, of The Legend of Zelda fame, is returning to Super Smash Bros. with the upcoming Wii U and 3DS releases of the series. Nintendo confirmed the princess' addition to the roster earlier today, a late Christmas gift for fans of Hyrule's royalty. Oddly enough, we won't be seeing an updated version of Zelda, either from Skyward Sword, Wind Waker HD, or A Link Between Worlds. Nope, Zelda's still stuck in her Twilight Princess attire and regalia. Could be worse, I suppose.
Accompanying Zelda's confirmation are about a dozen screenshots that half-tease her move-set and otherwise crack a few jokes. Zelda's angry face as she sees Link with Princess Peach is actually quite terrifying. Anyway, there's no Sheik to be seen in these screenshots. That should stir up some speculation as to whether Zelda's transformative powers will be returning in the latest Smash. She does appear to have a new move where she summons a Darknut styled after their Wind Waker iteration. Who know what else she has up her sleeve.
Zelda follows up the rather recent reveal of Rosalina, two more princesses for fighters to get dominated by. That brings the total roster to twenty fighters. How many more will Namco Bandai be adding to the game? I suppose we'll just have to wait and see. It seems as if there are many surprises left to be discovered in Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS.
