Despite what can only be called an outstanding launch for the PlayStation 4 this holiday season, PlayStation Plus is allotting the bulk of its game funds to the platform where the players are -- the PS3. Yus, January's line-up of PlayStation Plus releases has been discovered and PS3 owners are certain to be smiling. We're talking BioShock Infinite, DmC: Devil May Cry and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. Three great games from 2013! As for PS4 and PS Vita, well...
Let's cut to the chase and just list out the planned PS4 releases for the month of January:
- Don't Starve
- BioShock Infinite
- Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
- DmC: Devil May Cry
- Smart As
- Worms Battle Islands
Certainly, Don't Starve on the PlayStation 4 will certainly be a valuable addition to the collection, especially considering the game will likely be launching on the platform as a PS+ title. Yet for gamers who solely have a PlayStation 4 it may not be exactly what they were hoping as a return on investment. Same with PS Vita owners, for while the brain-training puzzle game Smart As was well-received and Worms is Worms, we're not seeing system sellers here.
That PlayStation 3 line-up, however, is stellar. Perhaps the best month of PlayStation Plus yet. BioShock Infinite by itself is outstanding. One of the best AAA games of the year, fo sure. Brothers, which some may not be familiar with, is an extremely well-reviewed indie game. Then Devil May Cry too? Sure, it's no game of the year or anything, but that's still a great game. Perhaps the only complaint PS3 owners may have is that they've already bought most of these awesome games.
PS3 owners definitely want to get in on January's PS+ games. PS4 and PS Vita owners? Well, maybe if you've got two Sony platforms.
