Jack Tretton, President of Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), still doesn't own a PlayStation 4, despite being offered one by the company. Instead, he gave up this privilege so that someone else could buy one.
During an official PlayStation Blogcast, Tretton stated that he would rather let an actual consumer buy a PS4 than get one himself. Well, isn't that rather nice?
"It breaks my heart if somebody's got $400 in hand and they want a PS4 but we can't sell them one," the Sony exec explained.
When the host makes a "shut up and take my money" joke, Tretton explained that he still doesn't own a PS4 for this very reason.
"Yeah, well, to that point, I don't have one yet because I'm like 'No, sell it,'" he said.
Still, Tretton says Sony isn't keen on seeing a PS4 shortage, denying the company "manufactured every unit we could get out hands on." He noted it takes "many months" to build up a large supply.
