Today, Nintendo announces the upcoming release of two Pokemon X/Y 2DS bundles, intended to be more affordable buying options for their handheld market. The holidays can be tough on the wallet, but Nintendo totally wants to help.
The bundles will include a 2DS handheld pre-installed with either Pokemon X or Pokemon Y, depending on where you buy it. Both versions will be priced at $149.99 USD upon launch, making them somewhat cheaper than the 3DS XL bundles from October.
Nintendo describes the 2DS Pokemon X/Y bundles as "new and affordable options" for consumers. Granted, the 3DS and 3DS XL handhelds are pricier than a 2DS to begin with, but if you don't mind the "slate" design, then there's no real reason not to grab one. The only catch here is the exclusivity, essentially limiting where you can go to pick up a bundle:
- For the Pokémon X 2DS bundle, you'll have to go to Target. This version comes with Pokemon X pre-installed on a red Nintendo 2DS system. MSRP $149.99
- The Pokémon Y 2DS bundle will be available at Toys 'R' Us (in-store and online). This bundle will include a blue Nintendo 2DS system and the Pokémon Y game pre-loaded on an SD card. MSRP $149.99
Pretty good deal, either way. A hard copy of Pokemon X/Y is already $39.99, while a 3DS would be another $169.99 and a 3DS XL $199.99.
Both the Pokemon X and Pokemon Y 2DS bundles will be released this Friday, December 6.
