The PlayStation 4 is about to get its first major MMO next spring according to a tentative announcement from Square Enix. That's right, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be coming to the next-gen gen console starting April 2014 if everything goes to plan. The announcement was made during the official PlayStation Awards ceremony where A Realm Reborn received a "Special Award."
While I'm not one to play MMOs on consoles, you always have to start somewhere, right? From what I hear the PlayStation 3 version of the game is a solid option for potential A Realm Reborn players. As for how that will work out when PvP launches soon, that's another matter entirely. The PlayStation 4 version, with its likely upgrades to visuals, will probably be an even better option for next-gen investors.
Check out Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on PC and PlayStation 3 right now, though be aware that it has a monthly subscription requirement. Or wait and check out the popular MMO on PlayStation 4 when it launches next April.
