Amazon is preparing for our digital future, it appears, as the biggest online retailer has launched a PlayStation store-front this morning. The new sub-section of the store, which deals with all things digital and PlayStation, will offer a variety of digital content including PlayStation digital games, DLC, and services like PlayStation Plus and gift cards. Perhaps the only notable omission is the lack of a PlayStation 4 section.
Yes, currently there are only PlayStation 3, PS Vita and PlayStation Plus sections to the PlayStation store-front. Whether or not PlayStation 4 digital content will be offered isn't clear. Perhaps they're waiting for the console's launch to add the sub-section? If that's the case, having a button or grayed-out link would be better to sate our worries. That's not to say what's there right now isn't acceptable, it's just... next-gen. Come on.
To celebrate the store-front's launch, Amazon is offering $5 of credit with specific digital purchases. It's not much and the credit is only associated with a limited amount of games and DLC (Battlefield 4, The Last of Us, Assassin's Creed IV, Batman: Arkham Origins, FIFA 14 and Madden 25), but it's still better than nothing. Hopefully this means Amazon will be offering some deals on this stuff soon, otherwise why have it at all?
