Nintendo, in their new role as "The Alternative" to next-gen, is trying to steal some next-gen thunder by holding a Nintendo Direct tomorrow! Yes, Wednesday the 13, the day prior to Sony's very own PlayStation All-Access event and two days prior to the PlayStation 4 launch, Nintendo will broadcast a 3DS-centric stream. This way Nintendo builds up some 3DS buzz, but doesn't create any next-gen/Wii U comparisons for the holiday.
Oddly enough there are only really two big 3DS games coming up for the rest of the year, at least as far as announced release dates go. We've got Mario Party: Island Tour on the 19 and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds on the 22. After that, well, hopefully Nintendo has some announcements coming tomorrow. We're still waiting on a Professor Layton release date in North America and considering it was just released in the UK it has to be coming soon. So there's that.
Maybe Nintendo could surprise us with some Kirby 3DS, Yoshi's Island 3DS, Super Smash Bros. 3DS, Bravely Default, Monster Hunter 4, and a dozen other Japanese ports information. Really, Nintendo's 2013 plan is over. Maybe tomorrow will kick off Nintendo 2014.
Tune into the Nintendo Direct livestream website tomorrow morning at 8AM PST. Oh thank goodness, it's not at 4 or 6 in the morning again. That's very kind of Nintendo.
