If you were thinking Sony''s PlayStation All-Access event on Spike TV this Thursday would be 100% PlayStation 4-focused, like I was, you were wrong! Geoff Keighley advertised via his Twitter account, as he is paid to do, that The Last of Us' upcoming DLC would be revealed during the event. That's the single-player DLC that will be focused on a new character with a focus on narrative. A first for Naughty Dog.
Honestly, considering how dramatic and emotional The Last of Us' story is I can't imagine a better play to reveal DLC than on Spike TV. Really though, this is sort of a terrible idea. Imagine some sort of poignant 30-second blip followed by a horse of cheering bro children. Sure, it was probably more of Sony's marketing decision than Naughty Dogs, but all-in-all it seems fairly disprespectful to the franchise.
That said, sure let's get our The Last of Us single-player DLC on. While I'm more than willing to never revisit the world of The Last of Us ever again, a standalone side-story set in the same world is very, very acceptable. This is Naughty Dog we're talking about.
The Last of Us' single-player DLC was previously announced to be coming either in December or January. Expect an official release date along with the reveal during Sony's PlayStation 4 launch event, the PlayStation All-Access on Spike TV show.
