BlizzCon is off to a great start. Right at the front is Blizzard's new MOBA Heroes of the Storm, their Dota 2/League of Legends competitor that brings together all of the heroes and villains of their biggest franchises. On top of their debut cinematic and gameplay trailers, which hopefully will be up for us to share soon, the game's alpha was confirmed to be working and playable at BlizzCon!
On top of that, some new details were revealed as to how Heroes of the Storm is played. In years prior, Heroes was said to be a one-map game much like other MOBAs, but now it appears as if the game will have multiple battlegrounds. Some of those battleground involve searching for skulls, bringing them together and summoning a giant bone golem, paying off a powerful pirate to help a battle, or capturing two powerful towers. In other words, multiple maps with distinct types of gameplay.
Of course, it wouldn't be a great MOBA without a cast of awesome characters. Here are some of the villains that were shown off to players in the cinematic trailer:
- Arthas - Warcraft
- Diablo - Diablo III
- Queen of Blades- StarCraft II
- Nova Terra - StarCraft II
- Jim Raynor - StarCraft II
- Zeratul - StarCraft II
Oh jeez, while I was typing both of the videos just went up. Let's wrap up the text portion and get straight to the videos! Here's Heroes of the Storm in both cinematic and gameplay form.
