If there's one character in Super Smash Bros. through the years who has continually been a pain in my side, it has been Marth of Fire Emblem fame. Him and his giant stupid sword! That's why it fills my heart with sadness to see that today Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS director Sakurai has confirmed Marth's addition to the new roster. Damn the success of Fire Emblem: Awakening! It's brought about the return of my nemesis.
Speaking of Fire Emblem: Awakening, it's rather surprising to see that the Marth in Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS will not in fact be the "Marth" from Awakening. He'll still be his old, original self. I think it would have been an interesting mix-up, but considering how popular original Marth is in Japan, and his popularity as a recurring character in Smash Bros., retaining him seems like the smart way to go.
Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS (it really needs a subtitle already) is planned for release in early 2014. The roster now equals 18 fighters with the latest additions being Marth, Sonic, Toon Link and Peach. How many more fighters are left to be revealed?
