In a surprise turn, Ghost Games and Electronic Arts have reneged on their previous announcement that Need for Speed Rivals would be a slightly delayed release on PlayStation 4. Instead of November 29, Need for Speed Rivals will now be debuting on PlayStation 4 starting November 15. Yes, Need for Speed Rivals is now a PS4 launch title.
As for other platforms, Need for Speed Rivals is still planned for release on November 19 on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and will then come to Xbox One on its November 22 launch. Unfortunately, due to last minute moving around of release dates the Need for Speed Network won't be available on PS4 until Nov. 19. That means no iOS or web-interface functionality... but I doubt that's much of a big deal to core gamers.
All I've got to say is... whaaaaaa? How in the world did the game get a 15-day turn around from a November 29th release to November 15? Did Sony put some money in EA's pocket or did EA suddenly realize how big of a deal being a launch-day racing game on PS4 might be? Seriously, after both the PS4 exclusive Drive Club and Ubisoft's The Crew were both delayed there are no big next-gen racers! Well, now there is. Big props to EA and Ghost Games for making it happen.
Pick up Need for Speed Rivals on November 15 on PlayStation 4, where the racing game will be debuting. Or, pick the game up on November 19 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, or November 22 for Xbox One.
