It's October 31, which in addition to being Halloween also means it's time for both Microsoft and Sony to unveil their "Games With Gold" and PlayStation Plus plans for November, respectively. This month's a special one, because it will see the launch of both Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and logically should also see both subscription programs make the leap as well. Not the case, apparently, as only Plus has revealed they'll be offering PS4 titles on day one.
Basically, with the addition of PlayStation 4 games as the kicker, Sony massacres Microsoft in offerings this month. I'm not sure if Microsoft is just holding back a big free game for Xbox One or what, but subscribers will see the least return on their subscription in November since Games With Gold began. Sony, on the other hand, may have one of their best month's offerings yet.
Let's get to the lists of what each platform is offering this month:
Microsoft's "Games With Gold"
- Xbox 360
- PlayStation 4
- PlayStation 3
- PS Vita
Keep in mind that all games offered through Games With Gold and PlayStation Plus are offered free to download and play so long as you pick them up during their designated free release and continue your subscription in the service. There are really no losers here, considering most of us are paying for these subscriptions so we can play multiplayer and the free games are just added bonus.
I can't say enough how beyond generous Sony is being this month. Both Resogun and Contrast will be free as brand new games. Contrast may not be a PS4 exclusive, but Resogun certainly is. That's one of Sony's very own exclusives... completely free! Then we've got games on each other platform worth over $30, plus more. Sony definitely making a statement here. Microsoft's games are still solid, but Sony... wow.
