Now that League of Legends' Harrowing patch has gone live and Sivir's visual update is in the hands of players, Riot Games is moving into its next champion: Nasus. Wasting no time at all, Riot's already got Nasus banged out and ready to go. Odds are he won't go live until Riot's able to test him on the PBE for a while, but needless to say he's looking... godlike in these latest in-game images.
First things first, Nasus' original voice actor, Gene McDaniels, passed away in July earlier this year. Unfortunately, due to the scope of the work that goes into each of Riot's update a new voice will be recorded for the character. It's simply a matter of numbers. Nasus' recorded lines of audio will be increasing from 16 to around 45. That said, Riot wants Nasus' fans to know they're doing their best to remain respectful and true to the original lines from McDaniels:
"We definitely hear the sentiment you voiced, and we’ve been very conscious of the community’s love (as well as our own) for Nasus’ original voiceover while working on his update.
The number of lines included in new champion voiceover has expanded significantly (from 16 to around 45 in Nasus’ case) since Nasus originally made his debut, but during the process of updating Nasus we’ve done everything possible to preserve the spirit of the original voiceover."
Voicework isn't the only thing changing for Nasus, oh no. Nasus will be picking up updates to his base model, all of his abilities, as well as his animations and particles. Check out his base skin above in the header image and then each of his updated skins in the banner image below.
Rumor is Riot has a big Shurima Desert patch coming up in the same vein as their Freljord patch from April. With champion 117 said to be another sibling of Renekton and Nasus, taking influence from Egyptian god Horus, and several leaked desert-themed skins, there's only one question remaining: How does Riot fit a Shurima Desert patch in-between The Harrowing and the Snowdown Showdown?
Stay tuned for more information on Nasus and the upcoming Season 4 pre-season changes for League of Legends in the months head.
